Vibramates need tailpiece posts to mount B7s so they don't work on Casinos.

The Casino being a hollow body, is the top of the guitar (a laminate) strong It's my understanding that there is no Vibramate for a Casino for.

Vibramate Spoiler Setup Demo

I think it would look pretty good on a Casino. I also agree with vbar about the roller bridge though. This one has the Xtrem FT mounted, which I like just fine. Well, it's obviously just my two cents, which may or may not be worth that amount, you'll have to decide that for yourself. What do you think? The Xtrem FT floating tremolo on my guitar works very well. THat is probably a little bit of snobbery on my part. As far as break angle, I would venture to say that a person's playing style would be a big factor in having strings come off of the bridge. That's the basis for my previous statement of not wanting a unit with a tension bar, which requires being screwed down to the top, on a Casino. I'm wondering if this would add sustain to the guitar. I've got the Xtrem on another hollowbody. I'm not familiar with the GFS Xtrem. A Bigsby on a Casino looks a bit like this. Given the mass of the Xtrem vs. BBB , Jan 10, It is the exact same thing sold in cheaper packaging. Comparatively, I prefer the feel of the B30 with a wire handle. Note- there is very little break angle over the bridge on the Swingster. I don't think it will add much sustain. I have Bigsbys on my Sheraton and Dot and I love them with the mod. The guitar is full hollowbody if it is a Casino, so that is a limiting factor. I'm pretty sure I want a Bigsby. I agree with Dimitri. LessPawl , Jan 11, Vbar, your 2 cents may have just saved me a good buck. There are certainly a lot of opinions as to whether that's 'correct' or not, but correct is probably not important. One of the few guitars I own that remains unmolested, as it's just right for me the way it is. PS- Save yourself a lot of grief and install a roller bridge at the same time. Figured i'd add this, According to the Vibramate website they don't have a unit for an Epi Casino. The Xtrem is OK but it just isn't a Bigsby. Keep in mind, it is just the thin bracing under the top wood for support on a true hollow body. Gather all the info you can, get what you think will work best for you, and go play your Casino for all it's worth. OMB , Jan 10, Mickey likes this. With at least a few tweaks, I think the Dot Studio is one of the best values out there. An aggressive style may well benefit from a tension bar. I started using them after my first Agile, an AL I put a B70 on it and the angle from the saddles to the bottom of the front roller was too steep and some of the strings hit on the back of the bridge causing the guitar to go out of tune all the time. I know in the 70's when I worked on guitars at a music store, I saw a few hollow bodies that had aftermarket tremolo units installed on them that caused warping to the top of the guitar by guys that used them aggressively. A B70 with a flat handle requires more effort not necessarily a bad thing, it just feels different , but is appropriate for the semi hollow. In response to your question about a B30 on a hollowbody, yes, Epiphone has had success with it on the Swingster, pictured at left. A hollowbody guitar is a much different animal than a semi hollow. In the center is the semi hollow Epiphone Dot Studio with a B70 that's been added by me. It's very close to the B30 as far as feel, just slightly different probably due mainly to the axle design of the Bigsby and the hinge design of the Xtrem. I have Wilkinson roller bridges on all of my guitars with Bigsbys, except the m in the avatar. The B30 is very smooth, responsive, and controllable, requiring a light touch. The American version is a B It seems to be made of better metal, and improved performance a lot. It came with Graph Tech saddles. On a semi-hollow body, there is a solid block of wood inside to support the tremolo units. Let us know if you go for it. Personally, I don't have any issues with it, but have seen it happen to other players. Stig , Jan 12, {/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} Some good info here. I've actually been debating putting one on my Elitist. One of the main reasons I got the was because it came with a trapeze tailpiece and I wanted to put a Bigsby on it. This was before the Vibra-Mate was available. I have that for my Tele but haven't installed yet because I'm gonna get a Vibramate so as to not put screwholes in the guitar. OMB , Jan 11, So far, I found that the B7 is the popular choice. Honestly I doubt it would change sustain much on a guitar with a trapeze tailpiece. I didn't want to have have parts of the tailpiece holes showing. On a related note, I think the roller bridges seat the string a little better and may help, also. Also has anybody else had success with B3 on a hollowbody before? You don't want a unit with a tension bar on a Casino. The biggest difference between these two units is the tension bar. I do believe I'm gonna try the floating Xtrem or B30 first and take it from there Thx guys I'll post with my results. I'm of the opinion that a large chunk of metal that you screw down to the top of a hollowbodied instrument is going to have a large impact on how that instrument sounds. I have an Xtrem on one of my hollows and a bunch of Bigsby's. Bigsby On An Epi Casino? Also, has anybody here used the Xtrem? The handle is a nice heavier piece, good design, I like it. I currently have a Bigsby on one hollowbody, and one on a semi hollow. I am interested in the B3 and I'm not ruling out the Xtrem floating style. There's just something about a Bigsby on a Casino I like. I also like the idea of almost half price so I'll have to check out the WD version. The Wilkinson took care of that. Epi even factory installed it on the Casino and we all know about the Beatles well most us old timers anyway. All 3 of mine have roller bridges, and I'm convinced it's the way to go with a trem unit on your guitar. I have heard of some people having issues with not enough break angle which makes the strings come off the bridge and fell loose. The top vibrates differently on the two designs, with the hollowbody top being allowed to vibrate and resonate more freely than the semi hollow, which is attached to the rigid center block. Other roller bridges wouldn't do it. Sustain, boy, I dunno. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}Discussion in ' Guitars ' started by dkal24 , Jan 10, Log in. It could be a month or so down the road though. It's a B - that's what comes factory-installed if you get one stock. But that's just my opinion. Reddog3d , Jan 11, Mickey , Jan 11, I think I love me that Casino guitar. You could use a B3 but the break angle of the neck may cause the strings to pop out of the saddles when you use it. What you like, what sounds good to you, and sometimes maybe even what's available in the moment did Epiphone perhaps have B70's sitting in a warehouse? This is the reason why I might be leaning toward the B I was wondering why vbar mentioned not using a trem with a tension bar like the B70 on a hollowbody? A Guitar Forum. If it were me, I wouldn't risk it.
